2020 Hafez Awards announces winners

The 2020 edition of the Hafez Awards, Iran’s first and only private awards in the film industry and TV productions, has announced winners.

Considering sanitary protocols, the awarding ceremony was held with limited participation of some cineastes in Karaj on Saturday.

The winners are as follows:

Best TV Figure: Ehsan Alikhani for ‘Asr-e Jadid’ (new age) talent show

Lifetime Artistic Achievement: Faramarz Qaribian

Best Documentary: ‘Chizhaee ke Jayeshan Khalist’ (absent things)

Best Technical and Artistic Achievement: ‘The Last Fiction’ animation

Abbas Kiarostami Medal: Siavash Afshar for ‘Cook Book’

Best Comedy Actress: Shabnam Moqaddami for ‘The Monster’

Best Comedy Actor: Mohsen Tanabandeh ‘The Capital 6’

Best Drama Actress: Merila Zarei for ‘Mannequin’

Best Drama Actor: Mostafa Zamani for ‘Blue Whale’

Best TV Scenario: Peyman Qasemkhani for ‘The Monster’

Best Background Music: Christophe Rezaee for ‘The Last Fiction’

Best TV director: Mehran Modiri for ‘The Monster’

Best Credit Song: Reza Yazdani for ‘The Forgotten’

Best Cinema Editing: Hamid Najafi-Raad for ‘When the Moon was Full’

Best Cinema Scenario: Morteza Esfahani and Narges Abyar for ‘When the Moon was Full’

Best Cinema Cinematography: Ali Qazi for ‘A Hairy Tale’

Best Series: ‘The Monster’ by Mehran Modiri and Mostafa Ahmadi

Best Cinema Actress: Zhaleh Sameti for ‘Darkhoungah’ and Elnaz Shakerdoust for ‘When the Moon was Full’

Best Cinema Actor: Navid Mohammadzadeh for ‘The Warden’ and Houtan Shakiba for ‘When the Moon was Full’

Best Cinema Director: Nima Javidi for ‘The Warden’

Best Film: ‘The Warden’ by Majid Motallebi

The celebration is organized every year by the Persian cinematic monthly Donya-ye Tasvir (Picture World), which was held under the title of Donya-ye Tasvir Cinematic and TV Films Celebration for several years.

The latest edition of the event was set to be held online due to the coronavirus pandemic, but the organizers changed their plans and held it with limited participation of the cineastes.
